Slowing Down Myopia with Myopia Management
Myopia management helps slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in kids and adolescents. Myopia occurs when the eye grows too long, causing distant objects to appear blurry.
While glasses and contact lenses can correct vision, they don’t stop the eye from elongating. Myopia control aims to reduce this elongation, helping to stabilize your kid’s prescription and protect their long-term eye health.
Early intervention can make a big difference in managing myopia and reducing future risks. Contact us to learn more about myopia control today!

What Is Myopia?
Myopia is a common condition that can start affecting children at age 6 or 7. When a child’s eye grows too long, or the cornea is too curved, distant objects appear blurry, while close objects typically remain clear.
Myopia often develops in childhood and can worsen as children grow. Genetics can play a role. If you’re nearsighted, your kids are more likely to develop myopia.

Complications with High Myopia
Higher levels of myopia can increase the risk of serious eye problems later in life. High myopia (a prescription of -6.00 diopters or more) can lead to complications such as:
- Retinal detachment (when the retina pulls away from the back of the eye, potentially causing vision loss)
- Glaucoma (an increase in eye pressure that can damage the optic nerve)
- Myopic maculopathy (damage to the central part of the retina, affecting detailed vision)
- Cataracts (the clouding of the eye’s lens, which can develop earlier in people with high myopia)
Our Myopia Management Options
We offer several options to help slow the progression of myopia in children. MiSight 1 day contact lenses are specially designed to correct vision while reducing eye elongation, helping to manage myopia over time.
The lenses are daily disposable, making it easier for kids to manage. Additionally, they provide comfort and convenience while supporting long-term eye health.
We also offer:
- Atropine eye drops
- Myopia control glasses
Our team will determine what option suits your child based on their unique needs.

Protect Your Child’s Vision
Myopia control is an important step in protecting your child’s eye health and reducing the risk of more serious vision issues later in life. Early intervention is key to slowing the progression of myopia and preserving their vision long-term.
